Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, is heartbroken over the death of Hon Wanzam Mohammad Zaki. He represented Sakwa Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly and was the Chairman of the House Committee on budget and appropriation.
Mr Wanzam died in the early hours of Sunday in Bauchi after a short illness. He was 60 years old.
In a message of condolence released on Sunday, signed by the Governor’s media aide Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor called Mr Zaki a dedicated lawmaker. He described him as a humble leader and a committed public servant. His life was marked by simplicity, honesty, and a strong commitment to the welfare of his people and the growth of Bauchi State.
Governor Mohammed pointed out that during his time in the State House of Assembly, Mr Zaki stood out for his hard work, maturity, and love for the country. He particularly noted Mr Zaki's role as chairman of the House committee on budget and appropriation, where he made important contributions to policies aimed at bettering the lives of the people.
“His death is a great loss not only to his family and constituents but also to the entire Bauchi State. We have lost a dependable legislator, a bridge-builder, and a man whose humility and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike,” the Governor said.
While expressing his grief, Mr Mohammed urged the people of Bauchi State to find comfort in the lasting legacy of service, commitment, and selflessness that the late lawmaker leaves behind.
On behalf of the government and the people of Bauchi State, Governor Mohammed offered his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Sakwa Constituency, Katagum Emirate Council, the Bauchi State House of Assembly, and everyone affected by this sad loss.
The governor prayed that the Almighty Allah (SWT) will forgive his faults, reward his good deeds, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, friends, and the people of his Constituency and Bauchi State the strength to cope with this painful loss.
The funeral prayer for Zaki took place on Sunday, 21st June 2026, at the Gwallaga Jumma’at mosque in Bauchi.
