New Brighton recently welcomed Nigerian star Zadok Yohanna with a special birthday surprise as he turned 19 on Monday, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Yohanna made a big move to the Premier League club earlier this month in a record transfer from AIK Fotboll, costing €28 million.
The young player signed a five-year contract and has been training at the club’s facilities during the off-season.
To celebrate his birthday, Brighton surprised him with a cake during one of his gym sessions.
“Special delivery for the birthday boy,” the club wrote in a post on social media.
Yohanna moved to Brighton just a year after joining AIK from Ikon Allah Football Academy in Kaduna, Nigeria.
After completing his transfer, the winger shared his excitement about joining the Premier League side and talked about his journey.
“I am very happy to join this club because I know where I came from,” he said.
“I really wanted to make my family proud. And I have done that.”
Yohanna is seen as one of Nigeria’s top young talents and has caught the eye of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle.
He received an invitation for the Unity Cup held in London in May but could not attend due to his transfer process and a minor injury.
The 19-year-old is set to join Brighton’s first-team squad as the new season approaches.
