APC leader, Aliyu Abbat, says President Bola Tinubu has no competitor in Adamawa State for the 2027 presidential election.
Adamawa is the home state of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He is the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress.
Speaking with journalists in Yola on Monday, Abbat, who is an agricultural scientist and economist, believes Tinubu will win the state. He credited this to Nuhu Ribadu's appointment as National Security Adviser and other federal jobs given to people from Adamawa.
"My advice to the president is that he should focus his campaign on other states, but for Adamawa State, Ribadu has finished his presidential election victory," he said.
Abbat mentioned that more federal jobs have come to Adamawa under Tinubu than any past administration.
"Adamawa State has never had it so good as under President Tinubu. We occupy top positions. Two days ago, another Adamawa citizen, Abdulrazaq Namdas, was appointed Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency. What else do we need again for us to give the president 99.9 percent of our votes?" he asked.
He pointed to the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development and the appointment of a local as minister as proof of the president's commitment to the state.
"As an economist and policy strategist on agriculture, I know the wealth that this ministry can create for Adamawa can be more than what oil-producing states make.
"The president has moved economic growth to rural areas through the Ministry of Livestock. This also helps fight insecurity because youths who join criminals are often those in rural areas due to poverty," he said.
The former Managing Director of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending urged Nigerians to support Tinubu. He claimed that some elites oppose him because of policies that help rural communities.
On the issue of insecurity, Abbat called for a review of security operations and suggested using more technology. He also wants communities to take part in fighting crime.
"Before community policing can fully start, rural people should be given controlled arms to protect themselves against attacks from bandits and terrorists.
"Security is everyone's duty. Traditional leaders, local government chairmen, and others should come together to mobilize their youths for self-defense. The government alone can't do it because some criminals are from the communities. Community leaders can help identify them through community policing," he said.
He described the Tinubu administration as one of the best in recent times. He urged Nigerians to support the government for more development.
