ADC Picks Ex-Senator Halliru Jika for Bauchi Governorship in 2027

The African Democratic Congress has chosen former Senator Halliru Jika as its only governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Bauchi State.

The announcement came on Friday from the Chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee for the primaries, retired General Ishaya Bauka, at the Grand Conference Hall in Bauchi.

Bauka said the process followed the party’s rules and democratic methods.

He mentioned that the committee was given the task to oversee the confirmation of Jika and other candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

He added that the party’s three senatorial candidates also came through consensus and were confirmed without opposition.

Accepting his nomination, Jika thanked party leaders, delegates, and supporters for their trust in him, promising to lead the party to success in the state.

“I thank the party leadership, delegates and supporters for the trust placed in me. I remain committed to ensuring victory for the ADC in Bauchi State,” he stated.

Jika is hopeful that the ADC will win in the 2027 elections. He said the party has built a strong and united structure ready to take charge in the state.

He served as the senator for Bauchi Central from 2019 to 2023. He ran in the 2023 governorship election with the New Nigeria People’s Party before joining the ADC.

Earlier, Shu’aibu Dankama, the Bauchi State Chairman of the ADC, called Jika an experienced politician who is well-accepted across the state. He said Jika’s endorsement received full support from party stakeholders.

“He is a widely accepted and experienced politician whose endorsement enjoys the support of stakeholders across the party,” Dankama noted.

The ADC also confirmed its senatorial candidates for the 2027 elections. They include Garba Dahiru for Bauchi South, Abdul Ningi for Bauchi Central, and Nazif Gamawa for Bauchi North.
