Bayern Munich announced on Friday that Germany defender Nathaniel Brown has joined the club from Eintracht Frankfurt. The deal will keep him at Bayern until 2031.
The champions of the Bundesliga paid about 55 million euros, which is around 63 million dollars, to bring Brown, who is 23 years old, to their team. He will compete with Alphonso Davies, who has faced injuries, for the left-back spot.
Brown called Bayern “one of the best clubs in the world.” He said talks with coach Vincent Kompany helped him decide to join the club.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing for the biggest titles at the highest level. I set myself the highest goals and want to get the maximum out of myself every day,” he said.
Bayern is looking to improve even more after a great season in 2025-26. They won the league and cup and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Max Eberl, Bayern's sporting director, praised Brown's “rapid development.” He said the player “still has so much potential and is one for the future.”
Brown can also play for the United States because of his father. He made his debut for Germany in October and has become a regular starter.
In Germany's tournament opener, Brown scored a goal and assisted another in their 7-1 victory over Curacao.
Brown joined Frankfurt from Nuremberg in 2024 for three million euros. Last season, he played in all but one of Frankfurt’s 34 Bundesliga matches, scoring four goals and providing four assists.
