Gombe APC Candidates Receive Nomination Forms for Elections

The governorship and National Assembly candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Gombe State got their Independent National Electoral Commission nomination forms on Sunday. This marks them as the party's official candidates for the 2027 general elections.

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya handed out the nomination forms during a short ceremony at the Government House in Gombe. This event marked the end of the APC's internal nomination process and the start of submitting candidates to INEC.

According to Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, this presentation indicates that the party's nomination exercise is now complete. This follows the successful direct primaries held by the party.

Among those who received nomination forms was the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna. He became the party's flag bearer after winning the governorship primary.

The party's senatorial candidates also received their forms. They include Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for Gombe North, retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Ahmed Deba for Gombe Central, and Jerry Damara for Gombe South.

In addition, the APC House of Representatives candidates who got their nomination forms include Usman Kumo (Akko Federal Constituency), Ali Isa JC (Balanga/Billiri), Fatima Bello (Kaltungo/Shongom), Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu/Deba), Sadam Bello (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye), and Jamilu Shabewa (Dukku/Nafada).

While addressing the candidates, Yahaya congratulated them on their nominations. He said this shows the trust the party members have in them.

"I congratulate each and every one of you for earning the confidence of our great party and its members through the democratic primary process. Your emergence is not only a victory but also a call to greater responsibility and selfless service to the people of Gombe State and Nigeria," the governor said.

He pointed out that giving out the nomination forms marks another important step in the electoral process.

"The issuance of these nomination forms marks the completion of our party’s internal nomination process and the commencement of the legal process for the submission of our candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission in line with the Electoral Act and the Commission’s guidelines," he said.

Yahaya explained that the candidates need to finish the required paperwork before sending it to INEC through its Candidate Nomination Portal.

"Your completed nomination forms and supporting credentials will be uploaded to the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal within the timeframe prescribed by the Commission. I urge you to ensure full compliance with all the requirements," he added.

The governor also encouraged the candidates to stay united and committed as the party gets ready for the next election phase.

"As we move into the next phase of the electoral process, I urge you to remain focused, disciplined and united. Cohesion within our party and sustained grassroots engagement will be critical to our success in the forthcoming elections," he said.

Yahaya expressed confidence in the party’s candidates, stating they have the experience and skills needed for effective representation.

"I have every confidence that our governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, and all our National Assembly candidates have the experience, capacity and credibility to represent the aspirations of the people of Gombe State with distinction," the governor stated.
