Yahaya introduces Gombe APC governorship candidate to Tinubu

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has officially introduced Jamilu Gwamna as the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State. This took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he met with President Bola Tinubu.

Gwamna became the APC candidate after winning the party's governorship primary election. The party called his victory overwhelming as they prepare for the 2027 polls.

Tinubu congratulated Gwamna on his selection. He also praised Yahaya for what he called exemplary leadership in strengthening the APC in Gombe State.

A statement from Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at Gombe Government House, said the President expressed trust in the APC’s leadership in the state. He believes they can continue their development efforts.

Tinubu was quoted saying he is hopeful that "the party will continue to build on its developmental achievements and maintain the political stability that has characterised Gombe State under the Renewed Hope Agenda."

The President also acknowledged Yahaya for his forward-thinking governance. He noted Yahaya's commitment to building the party's structures in the state.

During the meeting, Yahaya thanked Tinubu for providing "purposeful leadership that continues to strengthen unity, cohesion and progressive governance across the country."

The governor also expressed gratitude to the President for his support towards Gombe State. He highlighted areas like infrastructure development, economic growth, and policies for sustainable progress.

Yahaya mentioned that introducing Gwamna to the President shows the party's dedication to unity and continuity in governance.

"Presenting Dr. Jamilu Gwamna to Mr. President is not only symbolic of party unity and continuity, but also a demonstration of the APC’s preparedness to consolidate on the gains recorded in Gombe State over the years," Yahaya said.

This formal introduction is viewed as an important move in the APC’s plans for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State. The ruling party aims to keep control of the state after Yahaya's tenure ends.
