The Katsina State Police have arrested a seven-man gang accused of robbing a home in Katsina and stealing motorcycles, phones, and other valuables.
The police said the suspects were caught after an investigation into a robbery that happened on June 19, 2026, around 2 a.m. in Unwala Quarters, Katsina.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, the victim, known as Surajo, reported that thieves armed with cutlasses and clubs broke into his house and stole two UD motorcycles, seven mobile phones, and two power banks.
Aliyu said police quickly started an investigation, leading to the arrest of seven suspects. They are Sulaiman Sabo, also known as Labule; Muhammad Aminu, 20; Muhammad Yahaya; Muhammad Daddy, 20; Aliyu Kabir; Musa Kabir, 20; and Ahmad Usman, 23.
“After we got the report, our operatives began investigating the case right away. Thanks to our intelligence operation, we were able to catch all seven main suspects involved in the robbery,” the police spokesman stated.
Aliyu mentioned that searching the suspects’ hideouts led to the recovery of five stolen mobile phones, two stolen power banks, two cutlasses, a pinch bar used for breaking into houses, a flashlight, and a bunch of master keys believed to have been used in the robberies.
“The suspects confessed to the crime, and our investigations also uncovered the names of four other accomplices who are still on the run and allegedly helped to sell the stolen goods,” he added.
The police named the wanted suspects as Dahiru Nuhu Tsoho, Ibrahim, also called Iro, Shafi’u Lawal, and Aminu C. They said efforts are ongoing to catch them and recover the remaining stolen items.
The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Ali Umar Fage, praised the operatives for their quick response and professionalism.
He urged residents to stay alert and keep providing useful information to security agencies.
“We are dedicated to making Katsina State safe and free from all forms of crime. We ask the public to continue giving us credible information that will help us in our work,” the commissioner said.
The police confirmed that the seven suspects will be charged in court after the investigation is complete.
