A new chapter has started for Lafarge Africa Plc as the company has unveiled its new name, HBM Nigeria Plc. This change is a big step in the company's journey and its new direction with its shareholders.

The name change to HBM Nigeria Plc shows the company's growth as one of Nigeria's top building solutions providers. It combines strong local roots with better global partnerships. The company made it clear that the name change will not impact its operations, workers, customers, shareholders, or its commitment to Nigeria's economic growth and infrastructure.

Speaking about the change, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, said the new name shows a forward-looking phase for the company. This phase will focus on operational excellence, innovation, sustainability, and long-term value.

"HBM Nigeria Plc represents an exciting new chapter in our journey as a leading building solutions company. While our corporate identity is evolving, our commitment to Nigeria remains unwavering. We remain focused on delivering quality cement, concrete, aggregates, and innovative building solutions that support infrastructure development, housing growth, and industrialisation. This transition positions us for the future while reinforcing the values of excellence, sustainability, customer satisfaction, and responsible business practices that have defined our legacy for decades," Mr Alade-Akinyemi said.

He explained that the transition to HBM Nigeria Plc will happen in a structured, phased manner across the company's operations nationwide. He added that employees, customers, shareholders, investors, host communities, and other stakeholders should expect smooth business operations, ongoing investments across the country, and a stronger focus on creating long-term economic and social value.

In his comments, the Chairman of HBM Nigeria Plc, Gbenga Oyebode, said the change is aimed at ensuring the company’s lasting success while staying true to the values that have built its legacy over the years.

Mr Oyebode expressed the Board’s confidence in the new identity, saying, "I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our shareholders for their continued trust, to the Board and Management for their leadership, and to our employees whose dedication and commitment continue to drive the company forward. We are confident that HBM Nigeria Plc will continue to create sustainable value for shareholders, strengthen stakeholder trust, and deliver on its long-term ambitions."

Also at the event, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, praised HBM Nigeria Plc (formerly Lafarge Africa Plc) for its major role in Nigeria’s infrastructure development through important projects around the country.

He said, "I can talk about Lafarge for a whole day because we have come a long way. Though the company is very strict and of high integrity, I can say that their products are impeccable."

The event saw many dignitaries in attendance, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Hon Peter Odey; a representative of the Lagos State Governor, Adekunle Olayinka; and a representative of the Ogun State Governor, Mr Tokunbo Talabi.

Other attendees included government officials, traditional leaders from Cross River, Gombe, and Ogun States, former and current board members, the company’s executive committee members, industry leaders, and more.

While the corporate identity has officially changed, the rollout of operational integration, branding assets, and customer-facing communications will continue across all areas to ensure consistency, business continuity, and a smooth experience for everyone involved.
