Frank Lampard has signed a new deal with Coventry City. This contract will keep him at the Premier League club until 2029. The announcement came on Tuesday.
Lampard led the Sky Blues back to the top tier of English football for the first time in 25 years. They achieved this by winning last season's Championship.
The 48-year-old former England star took over as manager in November 2024. He helped Coventry finish in the play-offs during his first season. However, they lost to Sunderland in the semi-finals.
"I’m delighted to have signed a new contract, it’s a real honour to represent this club," Lampard said. He is excited about the challenge of playing in the Premier League.
Before Coventry, Lampard managed Chelsea, Everton, and Derby County. He added, "After the incredible work of everybody to get promoted and win the Championship, it was important to enjoy the moment, and we certainly did as a city.
"Our job then as staff, and for the players of course, is to firstly recharge but also focus on what we want to do and what we need to for next season. There’s a lot of work to do on and off the pitch as a football club, so those things have been ongoing."
Lampard is eager to get back to work with the players. He wants to see them all and prepare for the new season.
Coventry will face a tough challenge as they start their Premier League journey. Lampard's team will play against champions Arsenal away on August 21.
