The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that terrorists attacked Tsamiya town on Saturday night. This attack caused damage to property and led to the abduction of a local resident.

In response, the police quickly sent tactical teams to the community.

The police reported that the attack happened late on Saturday when armed men invaded the town. They fired shots randomly and set several buildings on fire, including a checkpoint used by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a local brothel, and the home of a resident named Sule Mai Goge.

During the attack, the assailants also kidnapped Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare.

In a statement released early on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the Commissioner of Police ordered more security personnel to be sent to the area.

"The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya Town following an attack by suspected terrorists in the late hours of 20th June 2026," Usman said.

He explained that security agencies acted quickly after getting news of the attack to improve safety in the affected area.

"Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the deployment of additional security forces to secure lives and property," he stated.

The police spokesman mentioned that a full investigation has started into the attack. They are also working to rescue the kidnapped person and catch the attackers.

"A full investigation into the incident has since commenced, and efforts to rescue the kidnapped victim and track the perpetrators are ongoing," Usman added.

The command reassured the people of Tsamiya and nearby areas that security operations will continue until everything returns to normal.

"The Command assures residents of Tsamiya and environs that security operations will continue until normalcy is fully restored," the statement said.

Police also advised the public to stay calm and watchful. They urged people to work with security agencies by sharing any useful information that could help with the ongoing operations.

Authorities promised to give further updates as the investigation moves forward.
