Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has put an end to rumors about Victor Osimhen’s future. He said the Nigerian striker is not for sale, no matter the interest from clubs in Europe ahead of the summer transfer window, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Ozbek spoke clearly during a live broadcast on HT Spor. He dismissed reports linking the 27-year-old with Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona. He made it clear that the club has no plans to negotiate any deal.
“We are not considering selling Osimhen. Osimhen is an important player for Galatasaray. We are not considering selling an important player in our championship race. Putting a price on someone you don’t intend to sell is like counting your chickens before they hatch. We don’t have such a thing in mind,” Ozbek said.
The Galatasaray president also pointed out how significant the striker is to the club and its fans.
“Osimhen is making the second-generation Galatasaray fans,” he added.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray permanently from Napoli last summer for €75 million. Ozbek personally helped fund the deal, putting in €35 million from his own money to finalize what was a long negotiation. This investment has paid off well. Osimhen scored 22 goals and provided eight assists in 33 matches this season. He helped the club retain the Süper Lig title and reach the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
Even with this strong bond, reports say Osimhen’s representatives are still looking into a possible move away from Istanbul. Intermediaries are presenting his profile to several top European clubs.
