Kashamu's son supports Tinubu's second term bid

A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rasheed Kashamu, is backing President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027. He believes Tinubu deserves another term to continue the reforms his government started.

Kashamu, the son of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu and a member of the All Progressives Congress, said this in a statement on Sunday. He pointed out that Tinubu took office during a tough time in Nigeria's history but showed bravery by pushing for bold economic reforms to help Nigeria grow.

The lawmaker mentioned that while these reforms brought some initial challenges, they are now starting to show positive results in key areas of the economy.

He said, "The journey of rebuilding any nation is never an overnight exercise. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited enormous economic and structural challenges that accumulated over several years, yet he chose the difficult path of reforms rather than the easy path of postponing problems."

Kashamu added, "Today, the indicators are gradually showing that those courageous decisions are beginning to produce positive outcomes. What the country requires now is continuity, consistency and sustained leadership to fully harvest the gains of these reforms."

He praised the government's economic policies, including the unification of the foreign exchange market, efforts to boost revenue, fiscal discipline, and attracting investments. He said these efforts have improved Nigeria's economic outlook.

Kashamu also highlighted that Nigeria's reform agenda has attracted attention from international financial institutions and investors, which has led to more confidence in the country's economy.

He commended the Federal Government's focus on infrastructure development, mentioning ongoing projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, and the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road. He said these projects, along with investments in rail transport and inland dry ports, will lower transportation costs, enhance trade, and create economic chances.

He praised the government's support for agriculture, mentioning how funding for mechanization, dry-season farming, better seeds, and fertilizer distribution would help boost local food production and lessen reliance on imports.

Kashamu called food security a top priority for the Tinubu administration and said more investment in agriculture will create jobs, especially for the youth.

On education, he described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a significant program that has made it easier for students to access tertiary education through financial aid.

He added that more investments in technical education, digital learning, and skills programs will prepare Nigerian youths for chances in the global job market.

Discussing youth development, Kashamu said the administration is focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation, vocational training, and digital skills. He stated, "Our youths represent the greatest asset of this nation. President Tinubu understands this reality and continues to create opportunities that empower them through education, entrepreneurship, innovation and access to finance."

Kashamu also praised ongoing reforms in healthcare, including efforts to strengthen primary healthcare, improve access to essential medicines, upgrade medical facilities, and expand health insurance coverage.

Regarding security, the lawmaker admitted that there are still challenges, but he noted that the Federal Government is working harder to fight terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes through better intelligence, cooperation among security agencies, and more investment in military equipment.
