The Lagos State Police Command has said Mushin is safe after reports of a bomb scare caused a security response on Monday.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, went to Mushin to check the situation after a distress call about an explosion came in early that morning.

In a statement on the Command’s official X page, they said operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal-Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Unit were sent to the scene right away.

The police cordoned off the area and carried out a detailed search to find out what really happened.

After the operation, the police confirmed that there was no explosive device found and declared the area safe.

“Following a distress call alleging an explosion in the early hours of today, operatives of the EOD-CBRN Unit were immediately deployed to the scene. After cordoning off the area and conducting a thorough assessment, search, and recovery operation, the location was declared safe and free of any IED threat,” the Command shared.

During his visit, CP Fatai told residents of Mushin and nearby areas to stay calm and continue with their normal activities. He promised them that there would be enough security to protect lives and property.

This reassurance comes as people are more alert to bomb threats in the area. This is especially because of an incident in 2025 when a bomb exploded on Taiwo Street, Idi-Araba, in Mushin Local Government Area. That explosion was linked to a scavenger trying to dismantle military-grade grenades.

The explosion killed the scavenger and injured three others. Investigators found that he was handling one of the grenades when it exploded, killing him instantly.
