A 26-year-old lawyer, Sarah Araba Tettey, has died after collapsing while celebrating Ghana’s win against Panama at the FIFA World Cup.
According to Citi Newsroom, the incident happened on Wednesday at Standard Hostel, a private hostel in Bomso, close to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Tettey, who graduated from the university’s Faculty of Law, was watching the match with friends when she suddenly collapsed during the celebrations after the game.
She was quickly taken to a hospital, where doctors tried to revive her, but she was later pronounced dead.
The report states that Tettey was called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year and was working with O & A Legal Consult.
Her death has led to a flood of grief on social media. Friends, colleagues, and former classmates are mourning what many say is the loss of a bright young lawyer.
As of now, her family has not made any official statement about what happened leading to her death.
Reports say her body has been taken to a mortuary for further arrangements.
The exact cause of her death has not been officially confirmed by her family or by medical authorities.
