Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed gratitude to voters in the state after his re-election in the governorship election. He called the result a clear message from the people.
In a post on his X handle on Sunday, Oyebanji said the extent of his victory showed a strong vote of confidence from Ekiti voters across the state.
“The voice of the people has reverberated from every part of our great state, and the message is clear,” he wrote.
The governor said he felt “deeply humbled” by what he called a clean sweep across all 16 local government areas. He also mentioned that he received about 85 per cent of the popular vote.
“From our urban centres to our most remote communities, you have spoken with one thunderous voice for continuous development, stability, and a future of endless opportunities,” he added.
Responsibility Ahead
Oyebanji pointed out that his renewed mandate brings greater responsibility to his administration. He said they need to deepen development across all parts of the state.
“This mandate means that our work must touch every household even deeper. There are no winners or losers today, there is only one united Ekiti determined to continue its journey of upward mobility,” he said.
He promised to govern with humility, fairness, and dedication. He also thanked residents for their support.
“I pledge to honour this immense trust by continuing to lead with humility, dedication, and fairness. Thank you, Ekiti Kete, for making history with us,” the governor wrote.
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the election. He received 319,224 votes across the 16 local government areas in the state.
He defeated his closest rival, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, who got 40,533 votes, and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress, who scored 12,872 votes.
