The Ogun State Police have found a Lexus RX300 that was reported missing from the home of a retired Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku. She and her security guard were killed in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba area of Ogun State.
This information came from a statement by the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi. He mentioned that the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, visited the crime scene on Monday to assess the ongoing investigations.
The police said the visit was meant to check on the progress of the investigation into the killings. "Further to the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of retired broadcaster, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, today visited the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot assessment and to personally evaluate the progress of ongoing investigative efforts," the statement said in part.
During his visit, Ojajuni looked around the premises and got updates from the detectives working on the case. He stressed the police's commitment to getting justice. "CP Ojajuni reiterated the Command’s resolve to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensuring that those responsible are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice," Babaseyi added.
The police also confirmed they recovered the victim's car, which had been reported missing after the incident. "It is worthy of note that the vehicle earlier reported missing from the residence, a Lexus RX300, has been recovered by police operatives during the night hours," the PPRO confirmed.
The police secured the vehicle as part of the ongoing investigation. They assured residents that they are still working hard to find the people responsible for the crime. "The Commissioner of Police commiserated with the family of the deceased and assured residents of Ogun State that intensive investigation is ongoing, with all available resources being deployed to track down the perpetrators."
PUNCH Online reported that the incident happened at the home of the retired broadcaster in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba area of Ogun State, where she and her security guard were killed under unclear circumstances.
Earlier, the police had confirmed that a resident raised an alarm about suspicious movements around the area, which led officers to the scene. Preliminary findings showed signs of forced entry into the residence.
The police stated that during a search of the premises, the security guard was found dead at his post, while the broadcaster's body was later discovered inside the apartment.
