The Lagos State Police have started looking into a strange parcel that contained live ammunition. This parcel was delivered to the Managing Director of FirstBank, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.

The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, shared this information on Tuesday during a press briefing at the police headquarters. He said detectives have begun investigations to find out what happened.

The police commissioner stated that the incident was reported on May 7, 2026. This was after Alebiosu found two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition hidden in a package sent to him.

Tijani explained that the parcel was first received by the security guard at the bank before it was given to Alebiosu. "The Managing Director reported the matter to the police after discovering two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition in a parcel collected on his behalf."

He added, "The case is still under investigation, and we are treating it with the seriousness it deserves."

Sources close to the case said the parcel was delivered to Alebiosu’s home in Ikoyi, Lagos, by a dispatch rider. The package was labeled as confidential and only had the recipient’s name and address. There was no information about who sent it.

The commissioner mentioned that no one has been arrested regarding this case so far. He said investigators are following several leads.

Tunji noted that detectives are also looking into information from the complainant about people who might know something about this situation. He pointed out that forensic and intelligence-led investigations are in progress to find out where the parcel came from and who was involved in its delivery.

The commissioner assured the public that the police will give updates as the investigation moves forward. This incident happens at a time when there are rising worries about the safety of corporate executives and high-profile individuals in Nigeria.
