A video of a young woman who looks hurt has caused a stir on social media. The woman, said to be 18 years old, is asking for help because of claims of domestic abuse.

The video was shared on Monday by a user on X called #Hybrid_Ola. In it, the woman has visible injuries on her face while a man, identified as her husband, is seen arguing with their neighbors who confronted him about the abuse.

Bystanders in the video tell the man to leave the woman alone as he tries to pull her towards him. The man is heard saying, "Madam, leave my wife. You want to drag my wife with me."

Another person in the video accused him of abusing the young woman, saying, "You want to kill her. This girl is just 18 years. This man is brainwashing her; he is beating her daily."

In a different video, the woman is shown at what looks like a hospital with human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu. During this clip, Gwamnishu talks about plans to arrest the man. But the young woman begs against it.

“Please, I am begging you, people. It will be as if it is my fault. The mother does not like me, please. Let me just carry myself and be going,” she says.

She continues, “I am not going to the marriage again; you people should leave him. I won’t go to the marriage again; don’t arrest him.”

The videos have brought many reactions online. Many users are worried about the woman’s safety and question why she does not want to take action against her husband.

In response to X user #Updateboyx, who tagged the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, the agency replied, “We are on it. Thank you for tagging us.”

Many users are calling for official help. While #Kelly_kingz001 urged law enforcement to act, #CYCHINAKA spoke against violence towards spouses and said we need to go back to moral values.

Others are worried about the young woman’s state. User #Memnefer wrote, “She is so scared. 18 years old and married shouldn’t be in the same sentence. Her parents failed her,” while #DeNiike_ remarked, “She looks disoriented… I hope she breaks free.”

User #Cyberhijabitech questioned how an 18-year-old could face such treatment, saying, “no man in his right sense will treat his wife bad.”

Similarly, #Franklin579003 said the video disturbed him and urged the woman to leave the marriage. #InyangBiet suggested that authorities check the details of the marriage, including the woman’s age.

Others talked about bigger social issues. User #_makkiee connected this incident to the need for education and awareness among young women, saying they should learn to spot and reject abusive relationships.

This situation has revived discussions on social media about domestic violence, how to protect young women in marriages, and the challenges authorities face when the victims do not want to support legal actions against their partners.

The response from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency also shows how social media helps bring attention to abuse claims and encourages action.
